Moore Media reflects on MIPIM 2025

The Moore Media team were once again out in force at MIPIM 2025. As always – a great experience, demanding, inspiring and packed with valuable conversations and insights. MIPIM provides an incredible opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals – architects, developers, Business Improvement Districts to name a few – and explore global best practices in placemaking and the built environment while gaining a deeper understanding of the future of our cities and regions.

A global perspective on placemaking

Our CEO Jayne Moore and Communications Director, Naomi Taylor, took the time to embark on a global tour (from Cannes), learning more about international visionary projects showcased by Oman, Belgium, Japan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia. It was fascinating to see how different nations approach urban development, reinforcing the importance of international collaboration in shaping sustainable and thriving communities. Alongside these global insights, they also engaged with UK partner cities such as London, Manchester, Belfast, and Newcastle. Each city presented exciting opportunities for future growth and regeneration.

MIPIM 2025 offered an invaluable chance to discuss and learn from how cities are evolving to better serve their communities. Placemaking has always been a passion at Moore Media and hearing how these ambitious projects come to life was energising.

The rebirth of the high street, led by Business Improvement Districts

At the start of the year, New West End Company – a Business Improvement District surrounded around Bond Street, Oxford Street and Regent Street in Westminster – launched High Streets UK. The initiative is a pro-growth nationwide partnership dedicated to addressing the challenges facing the UK’s flagship high streets and unlocking opportunities for growth.

At the Downtown in Business brunch, Liverpool BID Company joined forces with teams from other London-based BIDs to explore strategies for designing a collective ecosystem that supports vibrant and resilient high streets. This will be a fundamental task force as cities across the UK work to revitalise their retail and commercial districts in response to evolving consumer behaviours and economic challenges. Collaboration and knowledge sharing is key.

Liverpool City Region’s vision

Team Liverpool City Region did a fantastic job of highlighting future development opportunities. One key focus was Knowledge Quarter Liverpool (KQ Liverpool), with projects like The HIL and The Pandemic Institute leading the way in life science innovation. Meanwhile, new residential and investment opportunities in Kensington are set to support the city’s revitalisation, further cementing Liverpool’s position as a hub for research and development.

Beyond the Knowledge Quarter, discussions centred on the wider regeneration of North Liverpool and South Sefton, driven in part by the transformative Everton Football Club plans at Bramley Moore Dock. These developments promise economic growth and greater opportunities for local communities to thrive, creating a more inclusive and prosperous future for the region with a New Town deal being proposed.

Liverpool City Region is rich in history and is a prime destination for investment, with a unified vision of driving transformational projects across housing, transport, innovation, and the globally iconic waterfront.

Why MIPIM matters

Despite the biblical rainstorms, MIPIM was an absolute success – made even better by working alongside an incredible group of professionals and supporting our clients throughout the week.

People often ask why so many industry leaders travel to Cannes for MIPIM. The answer is simple: connections. Spending this intensive week together has created some strong relationships, encouraged knowledge sharing and sparked ideas that can transform spaces and places. Learning from each other and finding ways to collaborate is what makes MIPIM worth the investment, especially at a time when working together to build better cities has never been more important.

Now, the real challenge begins, translating all of this momentum into tangible investment and progress for the Liverpool City Region. We look forward to seeing these opportunities turn into lasting impact.
